Why should I support this project?
Because 10-15 percent of pregnancies among women who knew they were pregnant end in miscarriage (who.int, 2025). The World Health Organization (2025) report that 2 million babies are born every year. In fact, stillbirths and miscarriages are not systematically recorded so it's believed that theese numbers are even higher. Women are taught not to announce a pregnancy until your second trimester....in case something happens. If the forbidden happens, the family is left to grieve alone because no one knew to begin with. When a baby dies due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), low birth weight, accidents and other causes people tend to avoid the family, not knowing what to say. The death of a baby is not something we are every prepared for. Won't you help us create a community of fellowship where we can speak our children's name without shame?

Awareness Event
Lovers Lane Soccer Complex provided the most serene location for our 2026 Memorial Event. The event was held on October 15, 2026 in Bowling Green, KY to honor our babies. We began our evening in recognition of our sponsors and new board members. Our beloved brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon of Western Kentucky University read our proclamation represented by Braxton McCoy, Drew Manship, and Jamison Swift. We recognized this 14th anniversary of reading baby's names with a short walk along the park. Our guest speaker was Mrs. Stacy Mosier, telling her loss story of Baby Millie. A big announcement was made at the event as Steps for Samuel agreed upon a first year partnership with The Kentucky Museum, Kentucky Folklife Program, The Department for Society, Culture, Crime and Justice at Western Kentucky University. We encouraged all participants who would find hearling to loan items to Nora's Nook for their Ofrenda located at the Kentucky Museum.

The Story That Started The Mission
Steps for Samuel is a 501c3 project located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Our mission is to Honor Babies, Aid Families and Educate the Community. We became a non-profit, 501c3 in the Spring of 2019. Prior to this, the project was ran exclusively off private donations for six years. We would like to thank all of you who have helped make this possible. As a non-profit we are always accepting donations to continue and to expand our mission.
